Sage vs. Palo Santo – What’s the Difference?
White Sage and Palo Santo are both well-loved tools for energy clearing, and for good reason! Both are beautiful, natural ways to purify energy. However, there’s a bit of a difference between the two!
Sage is great for deep cleansing and purification. It is also commonly used to ward off spirits and negative energy. The word ‘sage’ comes from the Latin word ‘salvia’, which means ‘to heal’. It’s great to use when you’re looking for a fresh start or deep energy cleanse! I especially love to use sage if I’ve been out all day and come home feeling ‘off’. I use it to cleanse my aura, as well as my space. Research has also proven that burning sage removes 94% (!) of bacteria in the air, proving it has physical benefits as well.
Palo Santo is a sacred wood, known as ‘holy wood’, that is commonly used for it’s therapeutic healing properties. It was traditionally used by the Incas to purify a person’s energy field and heal the physical body. It’s uplifting scent helps to raise your vibration and is also known to help relieve cold symptoms, stress, anxiety, depression, headaches, asthma, & more! It gently clears away negative energy while bringing in positive energy.
I think of it like Sage being a deep cleanse by moving energy out .. & Palo Santo as a gentle cleanse that also brings energy in. They work really well hand-in-hand!
